MEDIA NOTES

          TV MONITOR: Last night's 11:00pm ET 60-minute edition
     of CNN/SI's "Sports Tonight" led with Red Sox-Indians,
     followed by Marlins-Braves.  The first non-MLB report, at
     6:20, was a preview of the Sydney Games.  "Sports Tonight"
     had 3:58 of total Olympic coverage.  Last night's 11:00pm ET
     (late due to NCAA football) 60-minute edition of ESPN's
     "SportsCenter" led with Red Sox-Indians, followed by Blue
     Jays-Yankees.  The first non-MLB report, at 9:57, was
     Chargers QB Ryan Leaf being demoted in favor of QB Moses
     Moreno.  The first Olympic report was at 24:21 and
     "SportsCenter" had 3:06 of total Olympic coverage.  Last
     night's 12:00am ET 60-minute edition of FSN's "National
     Sports Report" also led with Red Sox-Indians, followed by
     Blue Jays-Yankees.  The first non-MLB report, at 7:51, was
     Leaf's demotion.  "NSR" first reported on the Olympics at
     37:06 and had 5:08 of total Olympic coverage (THE DAILY).   
          CBA/BET DEAL: The CBA has reached an agreement with BET
     granting the network exclusive telecast rights for up to 18
     CBA games in the 2000-01 season.  The agreement includes 10
     to 12 regular season contests and the CBA All-Star Game. 
     BET will broadcast the games on all BET networks and its
     affils.  In addition, BET will be allowed to rebroadcast
     games throughout the remainder of the calendar year (CBA).
          DETAILS OF TEXANS RADIO DEAL: In Houston, David Barron
     writes that the Texans' ten-year, $70M radio deal with CBS'
     Infinity Broadcasting "actually will involve more than 10
     years and quite a bit more than just radio."  The agreement
     also includes promotional time for the Texans on the Metro
     and Shadow radio networks and the Infinity Outdoor
     advertising division.  The agreement also includes Internet
     rights (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 9/15).
