Former Saints VP Terry O'Neil "is putting his passion
for media and pro football into 'RealNFL,'" a new Web site
that will cover the game "from an insider's perspective,"
according to Leonard Shapiro of the WASHINGTON POST. O'Neil
has "enlisted" former coaches Dick Vermeil, Bobby April and
Zaven Yaralian to write for the site. 49ers GM Bill Walsh
"has promised to contribute" to the site when he leaves the
49ers, "which could happen after this season." O'Neil said
a "requirement" for writing for RealNFL is you "must have
worked in the game" as a coach, exec or consultant because
the site is "only looking to attract the serious fans."
O'Neil: "I've asked casual fans not to log on. This is
really for strictly hard-core enthusiasts" (WASHINGTON POST,
9/13). Meanwhile, BOSTON.com's Eddie Medina reported that
former coach Pete Carroll is a contributor to MyTeam.com and
"is helping create a company" with CNN/SI NFL reporter Pat
Kirwan which Carroll said will target "the football
crazies." Carroll has also "been working as a spokesperson"
for the NFL Youth Program (BOSTON.com, 9/12).
