SHARK SIGNS ON WITH SFX, BUT WILL RETAIN LION'S SHARE OF BIZ

Greg Norman and his Great White Shark Enterprises (GWS)
are "going into business with acquisition-happy" SFX Sports
"without giving up any" of GWS' businesses, according to
Bill King of the SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. SFX will
represent Norman in licensing and endorsement deals,
"setting a cornerstone" for the firm's "further expansion
into golf," and Norman and SFX Sports President Bill Allard
both said that the "link will expand, with at least two more
announcements coming by year's end." Norman: "There's a lot
of business that we can do together; a lot of business-to-
business opportunities that we both agree with." King adds
that the deal will allow the "multifaceted" GWS to "devote
more resources to one of its more lucrative endeavors: the
development of gated communities" around golf courses
bearing Norman's signature. But SFX "won't own Norman's
business," and it "won't share" his on-course earnings or
receive commissions for any endorsement or licensing deals
that are already in place, including his Greg Norman
Collection apparel deal with Reebok. King notes that while
GWS "eclipsed" $200M in revenue last year, SFX "won't see
any of that" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 9/11 issue).
