PACERS NOT FRETTING OVER ZEKE'S STALLED SALE TALKS OF CBA

The NBPA "may not purchase" the CBA from outgoing CBA Owner and Pacers coach Isiah Thomas, but the Pacers "remain convinced" that Thomas "will be divested" of his ownership in the league "in time to meet NBA requirements -- and avoid a potentially messy conflict," according to Conrad Brunner of the INDIANAPOLIS STAR. Pacers GM David Kahn: "We think there'll be a buyer by Oct. 3. We have a procedure in place where we feel there will be a buyer. We hired Isiah knowing the players' deal -- even though we were rooting for it -- could fall by the wayside and so we had to be prepared in that contingency. If in fact that has occurred, we're prepared to go to Plan B, and we have Plan B in place." Brunner writes that an alternate plan "would naturally lead to another buyer, but Kahn offered no hints." Kahn: "I'm not buying it; [Pacers co-Owner] Herb [Simon] is not buying it, but somebody will buy it" (INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 8/25).
