UNIVISION LANDS WORLD CUP RIGHTS: The HOLLYWOOD
REPORTER's Nellie Andreeva reports that Univision has
secured the Spanish-language rights to the 2002 and 2006
World Cups. Andreeva notes the move means the network will
cover World Cup events "for the first time in more than a
decade" without its "top" announcer, Andres Cantor, who left
Univision earlier this year to join Telemundo. English-
language TV rights for the World Cups "have yet to be
     awarded" (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 8/15).
NOTES: Details of the ten-year TV agreement between the
ACC and Raycom/Jefferson Pilot released Monday reveal that
more ACC women's basketball games will be aired on cable
networks, with FSN South increasing its coverage from 16
games to 26 (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 8/15)....CRAIN'S CHICAGO
BUSINESS' Jon Fine writes that Times Mirror Magazines has
"caught the eyes of several suitors," including Gruner &
Jahr USA Publishing, Hachette Filipacchi Magazines, American
Media, Emap USA and Ziff Davis Media. DeSilva & Phillips
Managing Partner Reed Phillips: "I suspect (Tribune Co.)
would like to see a price in the $400-million-to-$500-
million range." But Fine cites "other observers" as saying
that they "expect a price possibly as low as" $200M. Times
Mirror's titles include Golf Magazine, Ski and Skiing
     (CRAIN'S CHICAGO, 8/14 issue)....CBS golf commentator David
Feherty, on criticism that the media focuses too much on
Tiger Woods when he is not in title contention at a golf
event: "It's an Anna Kournikova thing. People would rather
look at him even if he's not doing anything" (DALLAS MORNING
NEWS, 8/15)....In Boston, Howard Manly writes that Friday's
     Patriots-Redskins exhibition game on WCVB-ABC earned a
13.1/25 local rating, compared to WFXT-Fox's coverage of Red
