EDMONTON SUN REPORTS NPSL HAS LOCATED NEW COMMISSIONER

          The "hunt" for the NPSL's next commissioner "is over,"     according to Gerry Prince of the EDMONTON SUN, who writes     that former Strike Ten Entertainment CEO Steve Ryan will     "reportedly" replace outgoing Commissioner Steve Paxos.      Prince notes that Ryan "has yet" to sign a contract.  Prince      adds that Ryan also held marketing positions with the     Penguins and NHLE.  Search Committee Chair and Crunch GM     Paul Garofolo, who said an announcement will be made around     September 4: "I have interviewed a number of individuals and     am in the process of negotiating a contract with the new     commissioner.  We're looking for someone who is more of a     marketing person than a soccer person."  Meanwhile, Garofolo     added that the NPSL offices in Canton, OH, "are destined for     closure."  Prince writes that "all indications" are that the     NPSL will be headquartered in N.Y. after Ryan is announced     as Commissioner (EDMONTON SUN, 8/10).
