MCDONALD'S WOULD LOVE TO SEE TIGERS FANS SMILE ... AND SOON

The Tigers yesterday called the inaugural family night
at Comerica Park a "success," but said some "problems must
be solved before the next one, which is expected in late
August," according to David Josar of the DETROIT NEWS, who
reports that "hundreds" of fans with four-ticket family
night packages "waited two hours in line" for the package's
two McDonald's Happy Meals and two Value Meals that came
"with the budget-priced packages." Tigers Dir of Marketing
Tyler Barnes, on the promo: "It went really well. We just
have to sit down with the McDonald's people to work out how
to make it run smoother." But eight-year-old Tigers fan
Duncan McLean called his experience: "horrible." Josar adds
that lines at both levels of the in-stadium McDonald's
"stretched for hours." The packages, starting at $39,
included coupons for two pennants that can be used "any time
this season" at the ballpark, a program and for two ride
     tickets (DETROIT NEWS, 7/28).
