THEY'RE GOING GLOBAL: INTERNETSOCCER BOUGHT FOR $15M

U.K.-based Teamtalk.com, provider of soccer and other
sports news, has agreed to acquire Charlotte-based
     internetsoccer.com for $15M (internetsoccer.com). In
Charlotte, Rick Rothacker writes the deal gives Teamtalk "a
foothold in North America," while providing internetsoccer
"the capital it has been looking for and improved global
reach." Internetsoccer CEO Mac Lackey said that as part of
the deal, internetsoccer will "continue operating in
Charlotte under its own name with plans to double its 30
employees by the end of the year." In its new role,
internetsoccer "will focus on soccer news for North American
and Latin American markets and development of a women's
soccer Web site" (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 7/27).
