          AMERICAN STARS: In L.A., Greg Johnson reports on the
     endorsement strategy of Tiger Woods.  FCB, S.F., VP/Sports
     Marketing Dir Keith Bruce said "one of the smart things IMG
     is doing" in its handling of Woods is "purposely holding
     back on business opportunities."  Univ. of OR Warsaw Sports
     Marketing Center Dir Rick Burton added, "I don't think Tiger
     or his management team wants or needs more endorsements. 
     It's now about what he wants his legacy to be in terms of
     humanity" (L.A. TIMES, 7/26)....Lance Armstrong appeared on
     ABC's "GMA" this morning.  Prior to Armstrong's appearance,
     USPS workers opened the 7:30 segment with the "GMA" greeting
     while congratulating Armstrong.  Armstrong also was a guest
     on "Live With Regis & Kathie Lee" and CNN (7/26).  
          AGENCY NEWS: The Charlotte Touchdown Club, a non-profit
     promoting high-school, collegiate and professional football,
     has entered into a two-year partnership with Charlotte-based
     Muhleman Marketing. Muhleman will provide PR services, event
     planning and branding consultation for the annual Mike
     Fox/Bronko Nagurski Award & Event Gala (Muhleman).
          SPONSORSHIP: Miami-based SportsYA!, a Spanish-and
     Portuguese-language sports portal, has signed a three-year
     sponsorship deal with the Uruguayan soccer team Atletico
     Penarol.  Under the deal, SportsYA! gets uniform and stadium
     signage, as well as e-commerce rights for team merchandise
     (SportsYA!)....Coca-Cola's PowerAde has become the exclusive
     sports beverage of the AAU.  PowerAde will set up booths and
     provide product at all AAU sanctioned events (AAU).
