FIREMAN AGAIN PLEASED AS REEBOK TOPS ANALYSTS' EXPECTATIONS

          Reebok reported net income for the second quarter ended
     June 30, 2000, of $10.7M, or $0.19 per share, a 138%
     increase compared to $4.6M, or $0.08 per share in the second
     quarter of '99. For the six month period ended June 30,
     2000, net income was $42.4M, or $0.74 per share, compared
     with $22.5M, or $0.40 per share for the '99 comparable
     period.  Net sales for the second quarter were $685.1M, down
     from '99's second quarter net sales of $697.4M.  In the
     U.S., Reebok footwear sales in the quarter were $247.3M, up
     0.9% from '99's $245.1M.  Reebok apparel sales in the U.S.,
     including sales of the Greg Norman Collection, were $52.9M,
     compared with '99's sales of $59.2M (Reebok).  The earnings
     "handily beat" analysts' estimates, as analysts "had
     expected Reebok to report net of" $0.10 per share.  Reebok
     CEO Paul Fireman said Reebok had "stabilized" its Reebok
     footwear business and that backlogs have grown for four
     straight quarters (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 7/26).
