Mavs Owner MARK CUBAN has "entertained" comedian CHRIS
TUCKER (of "Friday" and Jackie Chan films) at "one of the
team's summer-league games" in CA. Cuban: "He called me
about working on a movie with him, and including the Mavs in
the movie" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 7/24). Meanwhile, Cuban is
"looking to get into the music business by launching a
recording label in partnership with a major radio group."
One of the potential partners is TX-based Clear Channel
Communications (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 7/22)...An IL jury
ordered former Bears team physician JOHN MUNSELL to pay
former Bears RB MERRIL HOGE $1.55M for "failing to warn him
about the severity of his concussions, which Hoge said
forced him to retire at 29." Hoge had sued Munsell for
"nearly" $2.2M (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 7/22)....Showing "concern
over the effects of the summer heat wave on Houston's
elderly population," Rockets Owner LESLIE ALEXANDER on
Friday "donated 100 air-conditioning units to disadvantaged
senior citizens" (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 7/22)....In Boston, Fee
& Raposa reported that former Boston Globe writer WILL
MCDONOUGH celebrated his 65th birthday at the home of
Belmont Concessions' JOE O'DONNELL. McDonough "brought the
unlikeliest of bedfellows to celebrate" the event, Patriots
Owner ROBERT KRAFT and Jets President/Football Operations
BILL PARCELLS (BOSTON HERALD, 7/23)....JOSE CANSECO's
Canseco Financial Group "is moving into money management,"

ARMSTRONG, Suns F DON MACLEAN and sports agent SEAN JONES
discussed how professional players manage their money.
Armstrong: "The game has changed quite a bit over the last
several years where you see guys now, they either make bad
decisions on their own or get bad advice." Jones feels the

sophisticated" ("Last Word," FSN, 7/21)....Olympic high
jumper AMY ACUFF was a guest of NBC's "Tonight Show" and
talked about the Millrose Games held at MSG: "It's in this
indoor arena, probably the size of this studio. They stuff
us into a really small space, jumping off these wooden
planks that don't quite match-up. It's really pretty
dangerous. They just got a new track but this is the way it
was for years. It's kind of like Michael Jordan playing
basketball in a sand pit" (NBC, 7/21).
