REEBOK HEADED BACK TO COURT, AS DOCTOR CLAIMS INFRINGEMENT

Robert Weiss, a podiatrist in CT, has filed suit
against MA-based Reebok, claiming one of the company's shoe
designs "stepped over the line and infringed" upon Weiss'
"patented foot support design without his permission,"
according to Tom Walsh of the BOSTON HERALD. Weiss said
that he "worked for years to develop" the foot supports,
which are designed to help prevent injuries for runners, and
that he "approached Reebok a few years ago about working
with the company to use his design in some of its shoes,
even bringing them a prototype." Weiss: "They didn't want
to. Then I picked up Runners World magazine a few years
back and saw something that looked familiar." Weiss said
that he is "willing to sit down" with Reebok to reach an
     "out-of-court settlement" (BOSTON HERALD, 7/20).
