FACILITY NOTES

Orioles Owner Peter Angelos said yesterday that he
"doesn't plan to sell naming rights" to Oriole Park at
Camden Yards. Angelos: "I would never do anything to alter
the Camden Yards name. My goal is to retain Oriole Park."
In DC, Dan LeDuc reports that the team has hired a
consultant "to determine the value of naming rights as they
attempt to negotiate a new lease" with the MD Stadium
Authority, which owns the facility. The naming rights issue
"is expected to become a key bit of evidence in what will
likely be a long legal fight" between the team and the
Stadium Authority, as the Orioles seek lease "parity" with
the Ravens' deal at PSINet Stadium (WASHINGTON POST,
7/19)....In AZ, Hernan Rozemberg writes that Coyotes co-
Owner Steve Ellman "faces a possible" $10M loss because "he
may not be able to build" the Coyotes' new arena at Los
Arcos Mall in Scottsdale by 2002. Scottsdale Redevelopment
Dir Gary Roe said a "delayed and incomplete zoning
application" from Ellman on the project could slow
development. Roe: "We're now talking several months before
the City Council gets to review anything. It'll be a real
challenge to meet the 2002 date" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 7/19).
