FRANCHISE NOTES

NO DEAL: Cablevision Chair Chuck Dolan disputed a
Friday report and said that he has "no intention" of selling
Cablevision or the company's sports entities. Dolan: "That
report was completely misconstrued" (N.Y. POST, 7/15).
NOTE: Titans single-game tickets for this season sold
out "in hours" Saturday. Titans Exec VP Don MacLachlan: "It
is the first time in the franchise's history we have sold
out the regular season on the first day of sale." Of the
tickets sold, 44% were purchased at TicketMaster outlets in
the region, 31% were purchased over the Internet, 19% by
phone orders and 6% at Adelphia Coliseum (TENNESSEAN, 7/16).
MLB: In AZ, Dan Bickley wrote that the market for MLB
in AZ "has gone flat. Leveled off. It's a bitter
disappointment to those who thought a winning team would
flush away the red ink. And it may never get any better."
Bickley noted that rumors "are circulating" that the team
just took out a "massive" $20M loan, "neatly coinciding with
a curious insistence on keeping all accounting numbers
private." But D'Backs Managing General Partner Jerry
Colangelo said, "We did not go out and take another loan.
We have an existing line of credit" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC,
7/16)....In Toronto, Geoff Baker reports that a local strip
club pulled a publicity stunt during yesterday's Mets-Blue
Jays game -- on Family Day -- by having four women stand
topless in a hotel window overlooking SkyDome while holding
a sign for the club (TORONTO STAR, 7/17). The group posed
in the window from the first through the third inning until
hotel security intervened. Blue Jays DH Brad Fullmer: "On
family day, can you believe it? You would think they could
have picked another day" (TORONTO SUN, 7/17).
