MARKETPLACE ROUND-UP

NIKE: USA TODAY's Sal Ruibal writes that the yellow
jersey worn by the Tour de France leader is an "industry
unto itself" and that Nike has made the official jerseys for
the last two years. Nike "prepares yellow jerseys in
several sizes for all 20 teams" entered in the event (USA
TODAY, 7/13). Defending champion and current leader Lance
Armstrong has an endorsement deal with Nike (THE DAILY).
....In Portland, Andy Dworkin reported that while Nike will
"stop making swoosh-marked" NFL uniforms after the 2000-01
season, it "may" continue to make uniforms for the Cowboys
through a separate sponsorship deal, although the uniforms
"probably would not bear" the Nike logo (OREGONIAN, 7/12).
NOTE: The Doral Resort & Spa is "trying to lure" LPGA
and Senior PGA Tour events "to go along with" Greg Norman's
Shark Shootout, which makes its Doral debut in November.
Doral has been in "serious discussions about hosting" The
Office Depot, an LPGA event that has been held in West Palm
Beach the past four years (PALM BEACH POST, 7/12).
