A MAN NAMED JESUS REPORTS BIBLE CHURCH INTERESTED IN FORUM

The Faithful Central Bible Church of Inglewood, CA, one
of the L.A. area's "largest congregations," is in exclusive
negotiations to buy the Forum in Inglewood for $23M,
according to Jesus Sanchez of the L.A. TIMES. The Forum's
future "has been up in the air since" June '99, when Owner
Jerry Buss sold the facility to "an affiliate of the L.A.
Arena Co. in a deal valued" at $20M. In a statement, L.A.
Arena President Tim Leiweke said "no definitive agreement
has been reached at this time" (L.A. TIMES, 7/11).
THE GARDENS LIVE: In Toronto, Ravi Ubha reports that
Maple Leaf Gardens "will keep its name and ice surface while
being converted into a 5,000-seat sports and performance
complex." A deal was reached yesterday between Maple Leaf
Sports & Entertainment and local developer PenEquity
Management Corp. on the facility. The Leafs will continue
to practice at the Gardens, "though they'll be temporarily
shifted to a suburban rink for the next two seasons while
renovations are under way" (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL, 7/12).
