MEDIA NOTES

          TV MONITOR: Last night's 10:00pm ET (late due to MLB)
     60-minute edition of FSN's "National Sports Report" led with
     Cubs-Pirates, followed by Cardinals-Reds.  The first John
     Rocker/N.Y. report was at 25:20 into the broadcast with 17:28
     of total coverage.  Last night's 11:00pm ET 30-minute edition
     of CNN/SI's "Sports Tonight" led with a 2:08 report on
     Rocker/N.Y., followed by Braves-Mets game highlights. 
     "Sports Tonight" had 7:23 of Rocker/N.Y. coverage.  Last
     night's 11:00pm ET 60-minute edition of ESPN's "SportsCenter"
     led with Braves-Mets, followed by a 3:14 report on
     Rocker/N.Y.  "SportsCenter" had 4:58 of total Rocker/N.Y.
     coverage (THE DAILY).
          NOTES: ABC "MNF" broadcaster Al Michaels, on working
     with NFL HOFer Dan Fouts and comedian Dennis Miller in the
     booth this fall: "I couldn't be more excited about the
     possibilities.  The upside is enormous.  This has a chance to
     be fabulous.  I'm juiced.  Dan's going to show people he
     should've been elevated well before this, but he was behind
     John Madden at CBS and Bob Griese on ABC."  More Michaels: 
     "I'll get us off the ground and land the plane.  In between
     there will be acrobatics and stunts" (Rudy Martzke, USA
     TODAY, 6/30)....NBC golf reporter Bob Murphy is playing in
     the U.S. Senior Open this weekend (NBC)....Sportspages.com
     recorded its one millionth page view for the month of June on
     Wednesday and currently stands at 1,025,984.  The previous
     high for company, which launched in August '97, was 999,427
     last month.  Page views are the total number of pages a
     person clicks on during a visit to a site (THE DAILY).

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown. SBJ’s Tom Friend also joins the show to share his insights into NBA viewership trends.
