POLL INDICATES SALT LAKE RESIDENTS NOT SEEKING OLYMPICS TIX

A Deseret News/KSL poll revealed that "most" Salt Lake
County residents "aren't planning to buy tickets" to the
2002 Olympic Games, according to Lisa Riley Roche of the
DESERET NEWS. Just 15% of the 410 county residents surveyed
on June 7 by Dan Jones & Associates said that they
"definitely will buy tickets," while 25% said that they
"probably will." The poll has a margin of error of +/- 5%.
SLOC President Mitt Romney, on the results of the poll:
"This is not an election, where you need a majority to win.
The number who want to go is vastly larger than the number
of tickets we have." But Roche noted that 54% of the poll
respondents said that they "won't buy tickets," including
35% who say that they've "definitely made up their minds."
Romney: "Our problem is how to make sure everybody who wants
to come is able to" (DESERET NEWS, 6/17).
