          USA TODAY's Christine Brennan, on CBS golf commentator
     BOBBY CLAMPETT qualifying for the U.S. Open and shooting a
     3-under 68 yesterday: "Moments like this simply do not
     happen in sports.  Dandy Don [Meredith] never left the booth
     to throw three touchdown passes in the first quarter of a
     [`MNF'] game.  Bill Walton doesn't walk away from the press
     table to go 8-for-12 from the field in the first quarter of
     an NBA playoff game" (USA TODAY, 6/16).  NBC's Jimmy Roberts
     interviewed Clampett after his round and commented, "All he
     wanted to know was whether he was going to get in trouble
     being on NBC as a CBS employee" (NBC, 6/15)....Prolific golf
     course designer ROBERT TRENT JONES SR. passed away yesterday
     at his FL home.  Jones was 93 (Ft. Lauderdale SUN-SENTINEL,
     6/16)....The season's third episode of HBO's "ARLI$$" will
     feature guest appearances by Rams RB MARSHALL FAULK, Lakers
     G DEREK FISHER, Cowboys Owner JERRY JONES, Eagles Owner
     JEFFREY LURIE and Bills coach WADE PHILLIPS (Arli$$)....The
     76ERS added $25,000 yesterday to the $25,000 reward posted
     by RDV Sports VP JULIUS ERVING and the Magic for information
     that helps him locate his missing son CORY (PHILADELPHIA
     DAILY NEWS, 6/16)....CBS' Dan Rather profiled MLS United's
     BOBBY CONVEY, who is 16 years old.  Convey, on his
     education: "I'm definitely going to finish up.  It's one
     thing that my parents and my club and my agent have all
     talked about and that's important to me, too."  United GM
     KEVIN PAYNE feels "the future's limitless for him" and he
     "can end up being one of the best American players ever"
     ("Evening News," CBS, 6/15).  Convey has an endorsement deal
     with Nike (see THE DAILY, 5/4)....WNBA Sting G DAWN STALEY
     was named the league's recipient of the Citizenship Through
     Sports Award.  The Citizenship Through Sports Alliance is
     made up of ten organizations, including the WNBA, NBA, NHL,
     NFL and MLB (Sting).

TNT’s Stan Van Gundy, ESPN’s Tim Reed, NBA Playoffs and NFL Draft

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth.
