Rams QB Kurt Warner and Broncos RB Terrell Davis "have
gone from heroes to goats" in the eyes of striking Screen
Actors Guild (SAG) members after the two athletes filmed a
"nonunion" Campbell's Soup commercial inside the L.A.
Coliseum yesterday, according to David Robb of the HOLLYWOOD
REPORTER. SAG members picketed outside the Coliseum's gates
throughout the day and "urged" Warner and Davis to "quit the
production and join them on the picket line." The two
athletes are members of SAG and "could be kicked out of the
guild for working on a struck commercial." Davis has been a
spokesperson for Campbell's for the past three years, and a
source "close" to him said Davis feels "contractually and
morally obligated" to shoot the ad. The "moral obligation"
stems from Campbell's support of the Terrell Davis Salutes
the Kids Foundation. The source: "Terrell has turned down
other commercial shoots for other companies out of respect
for the strike. With respect to Campbell's they postponed
this shoot twice out of respect for the strike, but he's
going to training camp in three weeks, and they want this
commercial for the fall." NFLPA Exec Dir Gene Upshaw has
"urged football players not to cross the actors picket lines
during the strike" (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 6/15).
