MINOR LEAGUE NOTES: MANDALAY SPORTS ADDS TO ITS LINEUP

          Mandalay Sports Entertainment (MSE) has purchased the
     Double A Shreveport Captains in an agreement with Shreveport
     Baseball, Inc.  The franchise will be owned and operated by
     MSE Shreveport at the end of the 2000 season, with current
     Owners Taylor and Loy Moore maintaining a minority interest. 
     MSE owns the Las Vegas Stars as well as the Dayton Dragons,
     Lake Elsinore Storm and Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (MSE).
          IBA HAWKS SET FOR TAKEOFF: Vancouver business execs Jim
     Sanford and Tom Tao will assume a majority ownership share
     in the IBA Saskatchewan Hawks, while former Cavs Owner Ted
     Stepien will retain a small percentage.  The First Nations
     Heritage Corp. will also have a minority interest in the
     team.  Saskatchewan Place, the arena in which the team will
     play, will assume a management role (Hawks).
          BACK IN BUSINESS: In Seattle, Angelo Bruscas profiled
     Bill Ackerley, the son of Ackerley Group Chair Barry
     Ackerley.  Bill Ackerley's new company, Horizon Broadcasting
     Group, has acquired the 4,600-seat Memorial Stadium in
     Boise, ID, and the Single A Boise Hawks (SEATTLE P-I, 6/12).
