EXECUTIVE TRANSACTIONS

          HARPER'S SHORT STINT: In Dallas, Jodie Valade reports
     that Mavericks VP/Business Relations DEREK HARPER has
     resigned.  Valade writes that though Harper was hired on
     January 31 with the "intentions of learning how to be" a GM,
     Mavs Owner MARK CUBAN said that the "opportunity wouldn't be
     immediately available."  Mavs GM & coach DON NELSON agreed to
     a new three-year contract on May 27.  Cuban said Harper
     "wanted to stay on the basketball side full-time, and be in a
     position to be a general manager in the next couple years. 
     We obviously weren't in a position to do that with Nellie
     here. ... Harp is very focused and determined.  I guess he
     was too focused to wait" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 6/13).
          NEW OLYMPIC EXEC: UT Senate President LANE BEATTIE "will
     succeed" JOHN FOWLER as the state's Olympic officer.  Beattie
     will "coordinate the activities of state agencies that will
     be working with" the SLOC on "every intricacy" of the Games. 
     Beattie will also "be in charge of reviewing the status" of
     the SLOC's $1.32B budget (SALT LAKE TRIBUNE, 6/13).
          MOVES AT MILLSPORT: CT-based Millsport announced a
     reorganization of its senior management.  JOHN VON STADE, who
     has been with Millsport since '93, was promoted to Senior
     VP/Division Manager for PNM Sports, LISA MARKHAM was promoted
     to Senior VP/Hospitality Division Manager and JONATHAN DUBOW
     was promoted to Senior VP/Int'l Division Manager (Millsport)
          OTHER NAMES: MATTHEW STRELO was named Exec VP & COO for
     the Triple A Las Vegas Stars.  He was previously Dir of
     Facility Services for The First Tee initiative (Stars).
     ...Oakley named ABBOTT BROWN to its BOD.  Brown is Chair &
     CEO of Ridgestone Corp., a private equity firm (Oakley).
     ...JOSEPH CROWLEY was promoted from Manager of Guest Services
     to Dir of Guest Services and Event Day Staff for Pro Player
     Stadium (Pro Player Stadium)....MIKE BROEKER will join the
     NBA as Manager of Sports Media Relations.  He has been
     Communications Manager for the WTA Tour since March '98 (THE
     DAILY)....The NHL Blue Jackets named HARRY CODER as Human
     Resources Manager, JIM RANKIN as Team Services Coordinator
     and BROOKS JORDAN as Dir of Group Sales (Blue Jackets).
     ....EDMOND LANDRY was named Assistant Dir of Communications &
     Media Relations for Diamond Sports Management.  For the last
     two seasons, Landry was a communications and media relations
     intern for the WCHL Steelheads (Diamond Sports).
