JUST CALL THEM THE MAC: LEAGUE LANDS TV DEAL WITH ESPN

The Mid-American Conference (MAC) has reached a three-
year TV agreement with ESPN, according to Elton Alexander of
the Cleveland PLAIN DEALER. The deal calls for the MAC's
championship football game to be televised nationally on
ABC, marking the first network telecast in the league's 56-
year history. In addition, at least five football games
will be on ESPN, as well as a minimum of nine regular-season
basketball appearances. Overall, the three-year deal calls
for a minimum of 30 football and men's basketball regular-
season and postseason games to be telecast nationally.
Alexander: "There is nothing in the package for MAC women's
     basketball" (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 6/10).
