          For broadcast numbers, one ratings point = 1,008,000
     homes.  For cable, "COV AREA" = % of homes tuned in to that
     program in that network's universe of subscribers. 
          NBA: NBC is averaging a 4.8/13 Nielsen rating through
     22 NBA playoff games, down 17% from last season's 5.8/16 for
     18 games (NBC).  In Toronto, Rob Longley writes that last
     Friday's Pacers-76ers Game Six had a "miserable" 24,000
     viewers in Canada, while the second half of the
     doubleheader, Heat-Knicks Game Six, drew 54,000 viewers,
     "better but far from great" (TORONTO SUN, 5/26).  Also in
     Toronto, Chris Zelkovich writes that Canadian NBA playoff
     ratings are up 29% this year, "but they are still awful,"
     averaging 133,000 a game.  Friday's playoff doubleheader on
     CTV's SportsNet "averaged 39,000 viewers a game, 152,000
     fewer than TSN drew the next night for a two-month-old
     repeat of a ... dog show" (TORONTO STAR, 5/26).  
          NOTES: ABC's 3.4/10 rating for the Preakness Stakes was
     up 6% from last year's 3.4/10 (ABC).  NTRA VP/Communications
     Chip Tuttle, on Red Bullet ending Fusaichi Pegasus' run at
     the Triple Crown: "It's natural to be a bit disappointed. 
     But these are animals, and they don't always follow the
     script" (DAILY RACING FORM, 5/24)....Saturday's Indy 500
     Time Trials were down 7% from '99's 1.4/4, while Sunday's
     coverage was up 36% from '99's 1.1/3 (ABC)....Sunday's Game
     Four of the Stars-Avalanche series was up 7% from Fox'
     comparable game last year, which drew a 1.5/4 (ABC)....     
     Saturday's third round of the PGA Tour's MasterCard Colonial
     was even with last year, while Sunday's final round was down
     10% from last year's 3.0/8 (CBS).

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth.
