THERE'S ENOUGH WRESTLING ON THE HILL: DC NOT IN XFL'S PLANS

The XFL "may not be coming to Washington after all, at
least not for the inaugural 2001 season," according to Thom
Loverro of the WASHINGTON TIMES, who cites sources saying
that the league "likely will come" to DC in its second year.
DC Sports Commission Chair John Richardson "confirmed that
bypassing Washington for the first year was the likely
scenario" for the XFL. XFL spokesperson Jason Bernstein, on
the decision: "It's still up in the air. It could go either
way." Loverro writes that the change in the XFL's plans
"came as a result of its partnership" with NBC, as network
execs "were not as high" on the DC market and "preferred
other locations for its startup" (WASHINGTON TIMES, 5/24).
