MARKETING ROUND-UP: PUMA/CARTER DECISION EXPECTED SOON

          In Toronto, Tony Maraschiello reports that Raptors F
     Vince Carter's arbitration hearing regarding his contract
     dispute with Puma has been completed, but the arbitrator
     "presiding over the case has not yet rendered a decision." 
     While there is "no timetable as to when a decision is due,
     it is expected to take at least a couple of weeks" (TORONTO
     SUN, 5/18)....A new ad campaign for the first-year WNBA
     Fever, via Young & Laramore, suggests "the team is becoming
     an obsession."  A series of 10-second TV spots show a "bus
     driver, short-order cook, office clerk, bomb squad member
     and even" Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson "daydreaming
     about the team while going about their real-life routines." 
     Young & Laramore Creative Dir Charlie Hopper, noted the
     creative challenges for the new team in a Pacers-dominated
     market: "We just want to make sure it has enough attitude to
     stand out" (ADWEEK, 5/15 issue).
