THREE CREDITORS TRY TO "FORCE" MOSSIMO INTO BANKRUPTCY

Apparel designer Mossimo said that three of its L.A.
area creditors filed a petition Tuesday in U.S. Bankruptcy
Court "to force" the Irvine-based company into a bankruptcy
liquidation, according to Leslie Earnest of the L.A. TIMES,
who writes that the move "is the latest blow to a once-
highflying company that has been beset by financial
troubles." In a "terse" statement, Mossimo said the three
firms were "alleging claims against the company." But
Mossimo "did not elaborate," and neither company officials
nor the three firms could be reached for comment (L.A.
TIMES, 5/18). Mossimo signed PGA Tour player David Duval to
an exclusive apparel deal in February (THE DAILY).
