A WHOLE NEW BALLGAME: NBA.COM TV MAY TELEVISE RUCKER LEAGUE

The NBA "is in talks" with the Harlem (NY)-based Rucker
League about televising its playground games on NBA.com TV
on Tuesday nights beginning in June and running through the
championship game in August, according to a source of Scott
Soshnick of BLOOMBERG NEWS. The source said that the NBA
"won't pay" to broadcast the games, which would be the first
non-NBA games televised on NBA.com TV. Paul Kagan &
Associates media analyst John Mansell: "It doesn't cost them
anything, and they need as much programming as they can get,
so why not?" Fordham Univ. men's basketball coach Bob Hill
said, "People would watch it, no question." Soshnick noted
that the NBA is also in talks with several European leagues
about televising some of their games (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 5/16).
