LEAGUE NOTES

          Harris Sports Interactive surveyed sports fans to
     "point to problems" in pro sports in the 21st Century. 
     Growing player salaries was cited by 27%, followed by
     criminal/violent behavior (25%), team salary caps (18%),
     rising ticket costs (15%), player drug/steroid abuse (4%),
     free agency (3%) and team relocation (2%) (USA TODAY,
     5/17)....The DAILY RACING FORM's Glenye Cain reports that a
     committee has been formed "to help" the NTRA "communicate
     more effectively" with the Thoroughbred industry.  The group
     is "working on an industry ad campaign and a promotional
     pamphlet to highlight positive messages" about the NTRA
     (DAILY RACING FORM, 5/17)....Long Island's Mitchel Athletic
     Complex is one of the seven MLL Summer Showcase sites, which
     begins on July 8 in Columbus, OH.  The game will be played
     on August 4 and will be televised live on MSG (MLL).
