CALGARY'S CORPORATE SECTOR URGED TO BACK FLAMES' TIX DRIVE

Calgary's top 400 companies "are being asked to
purchase 2,000 season tickets to keep the Flames in Calgary
after the team's season ticket renewal campaign passed an
important deadline with favourable results," according to
Joe Bachmier of the CALGARY HERALD. Team officials are
expected to announce today that "season ticket renewals
surpassed" 75% of "their 9,000-seat base after a flurry of
last-minute purchases over the weekend, Monday and Tuesday."
The corporate campaign was launched by the team yesterday in
an effort to increase season ticket sales for next season.
The Friends of the Flames "have enlisted the services of 47
business leaders to canvas support from the CEOs and
presidents of the 400 targeted companies." Campaign
organizers set a mid-June deadline for the corporate sales
effort. Flames Dir of Marketing Garry McKenzie said that
"the Friends of the Flames' target of 2,000 corporate season
tickets is ambitious but within reach." McKenzie: "If they
succeed, we're 1,000 away from reaching our new season
ticket numbers." Bachmier: "Should the campaign succeed,
the Flames will have sold almost 4,000 new season tickets
-- the target is 5,000" (CALGARY HERALD, 5/17).
