TIMES MIRROR MAGAZINES ACQUIRES WARREN MILLER PROPERTIES

Times Mirror Magazines has acquired the ski and winter
sports films and videos production division of Warren Miller
Entertainment (WME), and the WME Properties will be managed
by Times Mirror Magazines' The Skiing Company and will
complement Ski Magazine, Skiing and Skinet.com. Times
Mirror gains the Warren Miller theatrical release and tour,
     which begins each fall and travels to nearly 500 cities;
Snoworld magazine; Warren Miller TV, which produces a
variety of programming for FSN; and film archives. However,
the deal does not include the assets of Int'l Entertainment
Group, formerly known as Warren Miller Films, or Action
Marketing Group, a national integrated marketing services
agency (Times Mirror Magazines). In Denver, Michele Conklin
writes that the divisions that were sold "will remain in"
Boulder, CO, and will be managed by Kurt Miller, who
purchased WME in '89. Miller, on the partnership:
"Excluding the magazine, they don't do anything we do so the
businesses are very complementary. ... This is an
opportunity to help promote and grow our films." The Skiing
Co. President & Publisher Andy Clurman said that the "most
immediate change will be joint promotions to consumers."
For example, at a Warren Miller film, Times Mirror Magazines
"could have a booth that would offer" a Warren Miller
product with a new subscription (ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 5/16).
