EVER-IMAGINABLE HEAT VIDEO CAUSES ANGST FOR DAVE CHECKETTS

MSG President Dave Checketts is upset over a Heat-
produced in-game video which saw "Go Heat" placards placed
on N.Y. landmarks, according to Ethan Skolnick of the PALM
BEACH POST. A "few Heat staffers" had gone to N.Y. to put
"Burnie dolls" and "Go Heat" signs around the city, and the
three-minute video was played at AmericanAirlines Arena
during Games One and Two of the Knicks-Heat series. But
sources say that Checketts "was so peeved about one shot --
of the 'Let's Go Heat' display on the Diamondvision at
Yankee Stadium -- that he contacted the Yankees." Skolnick
reports that Yankees Owner George Steinbrenner "was angry at
the employee who helped the Heat staffers get that shot, and
the Yankees sent a letter to the Heat, informing them they
had infringed on copyright laws." The Heat sent a letter of
apology. The team can continue to air the video, but "with
the shot of Yankee Stadium edited out" (P.B. POST, 5/15).
