A LITTLE GOLDEN NUGGET: ESPN TO BUY UNLV'S RADIO, TV RIGHTS?

          The Univ. of NV-Las Vegas (UNLV) and ESPN are "deep
     into negotiations" for ESPN to purchase radio and TV rights
     to UNLV's athletic program, according to Steve Addy of the
     LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL.  While not naming ESPN, UNLV AD
     Charles Cavagnaro said that "talks are progressing" with a
     "major sports network" to take over UNLV's radio broadcasts
     and "selected games on television."  Other sources
     "confirmed the talks are with ESPN."  The deal, which "could
     be completed this month," would call for ESPN to handle "all
     aspects of the broadcasts," including production, hiring
     broadcasters and ad sales.  Sources put the deal at "as much
     as" $2M over a five-year period (L.V. REVIEW-JOURNAL, 5/10).
