The first non-MLB report, at 10:10 into the broadcast, was Browns DE Courtney Brown graduating from Penn State Univ. "TNSR" had 8:45 of NBA coverage, and the first NBA report, at 11:02, was the Grizzlies hiring Dick Versace and Chuck Daly. Last night's 11:00pm ET 30-minute edition of CNN/SI's "Sports Tonight" and the 11:00pm ET 60-minute edition of ESPN's "SportsCenter" both led with Pacers-76ers, followed by Suns- Lakers. "Sports Tonight" had 3:27 of NBA coverage, and the first non-NBA report, at 4:36, was Braves-Marlins. "SportsCenter" had 10:58 of NBA coverage, and the first non- NBA report, at 5:39, was also Braves-Marlins (THE DAILY). NBA NOTES: TSN and the NBA have extended their cable TV agreement with a two-year deal that includes 26 regular season games -- with at least eight of those featuring Canadian NBA teams -- as well as 18 NBA playoff games. TSN will continue to air a pregame show while other NBA programming includes two one-hour specials (TSN)....Comcast SportsNet President & CEO Jack Williams said that, unlike the Trail Blazers, he has "no plans" to institute PPV for 76ers playoff games. Williams: "We believe we have the best regional network in the country. To take games away now would not exactly be how to make friends and influence people" (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 5/11)....TNT's Peter Vecsey, noting 76ers G Allen Iverson shot 9 for 21 from the field in last night's loss to the Pacers: "After the game, [He] apologized to [CNN/SI's] Fred Hickman." Hickman was the lone media member to cast a vote for Iverson for NBA MVP instead of Lakers C Shaquille O'Neal ("TNT," 5/10)....TNT's Reggie Theus spoke with O'Neal after last night's Suns- Lakers Game Two. Theus: "I have to thank you for the [Aristotle] book you signed for me. I'm going to think about eBay, Amazon.com, you know what I'm talking about." O'Neal replied, "Dunk.net, all that stuff" ("TNT," 5/10). SURFING THE WEB: USA TODAY's Chris Jenkins reports that Webby Awards nominees in the sports category, which will be presented today in S.F., are Quokka, ESPN.com, FoxSports.com, TheABA.com and SportsJones.com (USA TODAY, 5/11)....The WALL STREET JOURNAL INTERACTIVE's David Sweet wrote that Seasonticket.com's business plan "relies heavily on advertising, though no advertisers have signed up yet." Seasonticket.com President & CEO Carl Weinstein "envisions customized ads depending on the sport, or teams, visitors follow. Two 15-second commercials will be played before highlight choices." Weinstein added that he "can't foresee" taking the company public before 2005: "We're building a long-term, sustainable company. We didn't start this to prop it up for an IPO" (WSJ.com, 5/10). NFL: ESPN.com's Chris Mortensen wrote that Jets Owner Robert Wood Johnson's decision to allow Dir of Football Operations Bill Parcells "to seek a lucrative internet deal" while serving the team gives Parcells the "flexibility" to "say no to opportunities with ABC, ESPN, Fox and HBO until he reaches a comfort level about his next step" (ESPN.com, 5/10)....In Charlotte, Scott Fowler writes that the "best choice" for the "MNF" booth is 49ers QB Steve Young. Fowler: "Young is funny, smart and affable - a perfect combination for the job" (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 5/11). OTHER NOTES: Martina Navratilova will work as a courtside analyst for Wimbledon coverage on TNT and CNN/SI (USA TODAY, 5/11)....In Calgary, Jim Taylor calls for a "redesign" of "Hockey Night In Canada." Taylor: "Nothing major. It's still the best show in the business. Just a tummy tuck here, a bottom lift there, a radical cliche- ectomy" (CALGARY SUN, 5/11)....A WALL STREET JOURNAL editorial states "to the careful reader," the "thewy look" to SI For Women's debut swimsuit issue "appears to be replacing the traditional dewy paradigm" as it "provides ample evidence that the athletic woman can be just as pleasing to the eye" (WSJ, 5/11).
