          Orioles Owner PETER ANGELOS' plans to build an 850-room
     hotel on a city-owned parking lot next to Camden Yards "were
     thrown into limbo this week" after he "missed a city
     deadline for closing a deal with the Hyatt hotel chain." 
     The city will now "ask other developers if they are
     interested in building a hotel there" (Baltimore SUN, 4/27).
     ...In Atlanta, Melissa Turner writes that the "latest batch
     of Atlanta Olympic records released to the public Thursday
     includes an inventory" of the $1.5M BILLY PAYNE Collection,
     which is memorabilia purchased from the former ACOG CEO by
     his private foundation in '98 (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 4/28).
     ...Figure skater MICHELLE KWAN is among People magazine's
     "50 Most Beautiful People."  The issue hits newsstands today
     (N.Y. POST, 4/28)....AL-based Naman Motorsports Management
     Consultants President DON NAMAN says he would like to build
     "the first covered racetrack."  Naman: "I would also like to
     build a motorsports park that would have an official
     quarter-mile drag strip."  Naman is "keeping the groups and
     locations secret right now" (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 4/28).
     ...The documentary "CITIZENSHIP THROUGH SPORTS," produced by
     T-LINE TV and featuring appearances by Spurs G AVERY
     JOHNSON, Titans RB EDDIE GEORGE and NFL Commissioner PAUL
     TAGLIABUE, was awarded "Best Sports Documentary" at the 2000
     New York Int'l and Independent Film and Video Festival.  The
     documentary will be screened tomorrow night in Santa Monica,
     CA, at 8:00pm PT (T-LINE TV)...TNT's Ernie Johnson noted the
     NBA's Fashion Show that was broadcast on NBA.com yesterday,
     with models including CARMEN ELECTRA and Giants CB JASON
     SEHORN (TNT, 4/27).....Rockets G STEVE FRANCIS, on his
     chipped tooth that was for sale on eBay: "[A fan] had it on
     eBay.  The guy was so nice, and he was feeling it because I
     was grilling him in the paper, that he sent it back to the
     Rockets and I got it.  He didn't want to make any problem
     out of it or anything like that" ("Up Close," ESPN, 4/27).
     ...ESPN2's John Kernan reported CART driver DARIO FRANCHITTI
     and actress ASHLEY JUDD are getting married.  No wedding
     date has been set, but the couple has been engaged since
     December ("RPM 2Night," ESPN2, 4/27)....CBS' David
     Letterman, on ELIAN GONZALEZ being visited by his friends
     from Cuba: "The kids are already being scouted by the
     YANKEES" ("Late Show," CBS, 4/27).
