FACILITY NOTES

In Dallas, Victoria Loe Hicks wrote that in an effort
to promote the name of the new arena, American Airlines
Center officials "will blitz local media with news releases
and promotional items bearing the tagline: `Say whatever you
like, as long as you get the name right. American Airlines
Center.'" Center Operating Co. President Brad Mayne, who
hopes that fans will use "center" when abbreviating the
facility's name: "We want to make sure people in the market
call us by our name" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 4/21)....In N.Y.,
Richard Sandomir writes that while it has been "two years
since" Mets co-Owner Fred Wilpon proposed a new $500M
ballpark, "there is no deal with the city on financing its
construction. The absence of an agreement has meant a delay
in occupying the proposed stadium until 2003 or later" (N.Y.
TIMES, 4/26). Also in N.Y., Tully & Rubin write that the
Yankees and Mets are likely "to get equal contributions from
the city for the construction" of their ballparks. But a
"sticking point" for the Mets is their desire for a "costly"
retractable roof (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 4/26)....The Reds
announced that they have sold all but one of the 57 luxury
suites at their new ballpark "even though most [buyers]
don't know what the view will be" (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER,
4/25)....An early-morning fire yesterday at the FleetCenter
caused $500,000 in damages to the arena's roof and air-
conditioning unit but no injuries were reported (BOSTON
HERALD, 4/26)....A special report in the GREEN BAY PRESS-
GAZETTE titled, "The Making Of The Lambeau Field Deal,"
examined the Packers' effort to gain legislative support for
     the Lambeau Field renovation (G.B. PRESS-GAZETTE, 4/23).
