USOC CEO Norm Blake "cut" 35 jobs last week, according
to Paula Parrish of the Colorado Springs GAZETTE, who wrote
that the cuts "come only days after Blake's plan to overhaul
the organization" was approved in principle last weekend by
the USOC exec committee. The names of the people affected
and their exact positions were not released. Blake also
announced the "reconfigured organizational chart of his top-
level" exec team and the "basic outline" of the USOC's new
departmental structure. Scott Blackmun, formerly the USOC's
Chief Counsel and Deputy Exec Dir, will become Senior
Managing Dir of Sports Resources, in charge of "one of two
major internal departments" that handle marketing duties and
"interact directly" with NGBs (CO Springs GAZETTE, 4/21).
HYBL'S SECOND THOUGHTS? USA TODAY's Mike Dodd writes
that USOC President Bill Hybl, who announced last October
that he would leave office at the end of his term this year,
said Thursday that "he would not rule out" running for re-
election. Hybl: "I'm not excluding the possibility I might
run, even though I'm not a candidate" (USA TODAY, 4/21).
