CFL NOT SET TO HAND OVER COMMISSIONER POST TO J. GILES' BAND

The CFL "has called off its search for a commissioner,
but it won't give the title" to President Jeff Giles,
according to sources of Perry Lefko of the TORONTO SUN.
Giles has been running the CFL's day-to-day activities, but
sources said the Board of Dirs voted against giving him the
commissioner post. Sources added that Giles "has detractors
among some of the Western-based teams, although he has
strong support in the East" (TORONTO SUN, 4/25).
