FEDERAL JUDGE BLOCKS LAWSUIT BROUGHT BY PLAYERS AGAINST MLS

          In a 25-page decision, U.S. District Court Judge George
     O'Toole ruled that MLS "isn't breaking rules," and he
     "tossed out most" of a lawsuit brought by eight MLS players
     challenging the league's single-entity structure, according
     to Andrea Estes of the BOSTON HERALD.  While the players
     alleged that MLS was "colluding to keep them down," O'Toole
     wrote that the law "bars multiple businesses from getting
     together to monopolize a market," but "doesn't impose the
     same rules on a single economic entity," such as MLS. 
     O'Toole added that since MLS "is made up of several team
     owners and other investors ... it is still considered a
     single business" (BOSTON HERALD, 4/20).
