FRANCHISE NOTES

Fred Edelstein reports in his PRO FOOTBALL INSIDER that
the "buzz" among NFL owners has Wayne Huizenga "possibly
selling" the Dolphins, "perhaps as soon as before the start
of the next season" (FRED EDELSTEIN'S FOOTBALL INSIDER,
4/17)....In Miami, Barry Jackson wrote that the Heat, "which
was unable to sell out its first playoff game against the
Knicks last year, still has thousands of tickets available"
for Games One and Two versus the Pistons. With "concerns
about the arena being partly empty," the Heat has decided to
give two Game One tickets to "anyone who agrees to have his
or her head shaved." Fans who are wearing Heat apparel on
the streets of South FL "will be given" two free tickets to
Game One or Two. The "catch: The fans must be spotted by a
Heat employee." Heat VP/Broadcasting & Communications Steve
Watson: "In this market, teams have to do things to try to
get people excited about the playoffs" (MIAMI HERALD, 4/19).
...The AFL Bobcats "entered a new era" yesterday, as former
Minority Partner Michael Gelfand "assumed total ownership"
of the team for "an undisclosed price" (MIAMI HERALD, 4/20).
...FSN's Tracy Ringolsby, on the return of Braves P John
Rocker: "What's made it easy on the Braves front office, is
that the fans have come out and been very supportive of
Rocker and have not had any animosity towards him. In fact,
you couldn't buy a John Rocker jersey in Atlanta last night,
they were sold out" ("Baseball Today," FSN, 4/19).
