FULL IMMERSION: AFL OFFERS FANS A WIRED EXPERIENCE

In a deal with CT-based Interactive Sports Signals
(ISS), the AFL Firebirds are "giving their fans a chance to
listen to players during home games this season," according
to Mark Singelais of the Albany TIMES UNION. Starting with
the Firebirds home opener Saturday, ISS will "put
microphones on four or five players and will rent headsets
to fans in the stands." Spectators can rent the headphones
for $12 per game or $9 per game for the entire season. The
headsets "come with warnings about profane language." But
Firebirds WR Eddie Brown is against wearing a mic: "Now
you'll have kids playing Pop Warner using the language we
use out there. I wouldn't wear it because of the language I
use." The Firebirds and the Red Dogs "are the only two" AFL
teams that will use the mics (Albany TIMES UNION, 4/19).
