Claiming that there is a "corporate culture of racial
discrimination at Fox Sports," 11 minority employees of Fox
Sports Net (FSN) have filed a $25M lawsuit against the
sports network and its parent company, Fox Entertainment
Group, according to David Robb of the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.
The suit, filed Monday in L.A. Superior Court, alleges that
"over the past three years, African-American and Latina
stage crew members and other personnel working on Stage B of
Fox Sports News ... have, as a group, not been treated the
same as their white colleagues." Robb writes that "many of
the charges in the complaint allege that white workers are
given better shifts, more money and more overtime than their
black counterparts." The suit also claims that minority
technicians at FSN have routinely been given lower-paying
assignments and "have been required to train new employees,
who are white, and the (black employees) end up being their
assistants." Fox TV VP/Corporate Communications Tom Tryer:
"Each of these allegations has been fully investigated, and
every one of these claims of discrimination is completely
without merit" (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 4/12).
