NAMES IN THE NEWS

In Milwaukee, Spice & Walters write "in the aftermath
of allegations that he sexually assaulted a teenage girl,"
Packers TE MARK CHMURA "has gone from coveted public
relations draw and prospective politician to pariah." Spice
& Walters: "No sooner had the news broken that Chmura ...
had been arrested .. than sponsors of a youth football camp
featuring Chmura distanced themselves from the player."
Meanwhile, political officials said that Chmura's arrest
"may have ruined any future career" in WI politics. Chmura
has been an "outspoken Republican" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL
SENTINEL, 4/12). In Chicago, Rick Morrissey: "One thing is
sure: Chmura's days as a spokesman for United Way probably
are over" (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 4/12). JAY LENO, on Chmura:

ARTS & LEISURE: ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY's Daniel Fierman
reviews BOB COSTAS' new book "FAIR BALL: A FAN'S CASE FOR
BASEBALL" and writes, "The trouble isn't Costas' ideas, it's
his prose -- which twists into a sinewy mass of bullet
points, lists and detail. Even hardcore fans will have
difficulty plowing through certain sections. ... The book
can never shake the feel of an unabridged pamphlet, with
little insight into what fans actually care about -- the
game." Fierman gives the book a "C" rating (ENTERTAINMENT
WEEKLY, 4/14 issue)....Duke coach MIKE KRZYZEWSKI appeared
on ESPN's "Up Close" and discussed his new book, "LEADING
WITH THE HEART." Krzyzewski: "I think it's a people book.
It's about how you can get better" (ESPN, 4/11)....On "ET,"
Bob Goen previewed the new film, "MICHAEL JORDAN TO THE
MAX." Goen: "To add even more magic to Jordan's legendary
high flying dunks, the film makers utilized the same
technology used in 'THE MATRIX.' Called bullet time, it
aligns dozens of still cameras on a giant green screen to
capture every frame from all angles." The movie will debut
     on May 5 ("ET," 4/11).
