MARKETPLACE ROUND-UP

ADWEEK's T.W. Siebert writes that the Hawks "are
looking for an agency to change their marketing fortunes."
Wannamaker, a search consultancy, has sent letters to 15
Atlanta-area agencies for the team's estimated $2M annual
account, which has been handled in-house for the past year.
An agency "is expected to be named" by June 10 (ADWEEK, 4/10
issue)....In Orlando, Jerry Greene writes that two new
billboards placed by the AFL Predators "show a close and
revealing view of a female fan with the football jargon:
'Fake left, fake right,' then 'Predators football is back.'"
Predators GM Jeff Bouchy, on the "dozen irate phone calls"
that he received yesterday: "If we weren't getting
complaints, it didn't work" (ORL. SENTINEL, 4/12)....CNBC's
Sue Herera, on Nike: "Who's making money? Phil Knight,
Chairman and CEO of Nike. Shares of the athletic shoemaker
jumped over two points after Bank of America lifted its
price target on the stock. That puts Knight's one-day gain
on paper at more than $200 million." Nike stock was up 2
     1/8 to close at 45 1/8 ("Business Center," 4/11). CNNfn's
Stuart Varney reported that in the "last three weeks, Nike
shares have soared 35%, but the stock is still down from its
high of nearly $67 a share" ("Moneyline," CNNfn, 4/11).
