ON THE AGENT BEAT: PACERS F FILES SUIT AGAINST FORMER AGENT

EDWARD VINCENT KING, the attorney of Pacers F DALE
DAVIS, filed a lawsuit in L.A. County Superior Court last
week against Davis' former agent, STEVE KAUFFMAN, seeking
damages "in excess of" $1M "because of alleged breaches that
occurred during" Kauffman's eight-year association with
Davis, according to Mark Montieth of the INDIANAPOLIS STAR.
Kauffman is "charged with exceeding the maximum fee allowed
by" the NBPA and for "failing to exercise 'reasonable care'
in his work" for Davis. Kauffman called the suit an
"exercise in futility" (INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 4/8).
BLUE SKILE LAW: In N.Y., Peter Vecsey wrote that while
it is "against" NBPA rules for an agent "to represent both a
member of" the NBPA and a coach, agent KEITH GLASS, "who
negotiates contracts for about 30 players, flaunts the fact
that he also bargains for" Suns coach SCOTT SKILES. Vecsey:
"Evidently, if you were a strong supporter of BILLY HUNTER
during the lockout, the union's executive director tends to
ignore such transgressions" (N.Y. POST, 4/9).
