IMG and SFX are "squabbling over which company should
get credit for" Andre Agassi's recently signed endorsement
deal with Schick, according to Liz Mullen of the
SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. The deal, which sources say is
"worth at least" $1M per for "at least" four years, calls
for Agassi to serve as a spokesperson for a new razor and
marks his "first major contract since leaving" IMG for SFX
in January. But Mullen reports that the "dispute" between
the two agencies "arises because of IMG's claim that it set
the deal in motion." IMG Dir of Operations Bob Kain: "We
teed it up. We found it, organized it and handed it over to
Perry Rogers [Agassi's attorney]." But Rogers said although
IMG "began the process," SFX "should get credit for the
deal." Rogers: "Every substantial term of the deal was done
by SFX." SFX President of Talent Rep Ivan Blumberg said the
"people who need to know exactly how the deal was made know
how the deal was made. The issue of who takes credit is
irrelevant, as far as I am concerned." While neither Rogers
nor Kain would disclose financial terms of the deal, Mullen
writes that it is "not clear how the hefty commission for
the deal might be split up" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 4/10).
