DAILY VARIETY's Army Archerd writes that LEIGH
STEINBERG is "angling to acquire a showbiz management
agency" (DAILY VARIETY, 3/31)....24 Hour Fitness, a company
that owns and operates fitness clubs, has joined with MAGIC
JOHNSON to launch "Magic Clubs," a set of fitness centers
that will be located in inner city communities (24 Hour
Fitness)....An attorney for agent ANDY MILLER said that he
has "contacted law enforcement authorities" in TN and FL to
"assure them that Miller intended to comply with state laws
governing agents." Miller has been accused of breaking
state laws in TN and FL by "repeatedly contacting" college
basketball players "without registering as an agent in those
states" (N.Y. TIMES, 3/31)....ESPN's Bob Stevens reported
that KRISTEN HELGASON of GA "has one thing in common with a
lot of us NCAA bracket builders. She had Tulsa, Tennessee,
Iowa State and Seton Hall all losing in the first round.
But she's also the one, the only one of 590,000 entrants in
ESPN.com's Tournament Challenge, to have the Final Four,
including her Florida Gators, Michigan State and the two
eight seeds, Wisconsin and Carolina" (ESPN, 3/30).
