STARS AND BARS: WILL SERENA WILLIAMS SAY NO TO SC EVENT?

Serena Williams is reconsidering her decision to play
in the WTA Family Circle Cup, which begins April 17 in
Hilton Head Island, SC, according to Juan Rodriguez of the
MIAMI HERALD, who writes that the move would be in support
of the NAACP, which has "proposed a boycott of all events"
in the state until a Confederate flag is removed from flying
above the state Capitol. Williams: "I'm really not involved
in politics, but, you know, what's right is right and what's
wrong is wrong. ... I'll have to talk things over with my
dad again, see what he thinks. I'm not going to support
anything that's putting down my race" (MIAMI HERALD, 3/28).
