Members of the U.S. women's soccer team, who won the
Women's World Cup "more than nine months" ago, are "still
getting national endorsements," according to Terry Lefton of
BRANDWEEK, who reports that Julie Foudy and Brandi Chastain
are featured in a new Bud Light ad via DDB Needham, Chicago.
The ad, one in a new series of spots, "showcases Foudy's
considerable soccer skills" in the produce section of a
supermarket. Lefton writes that while "most people squeeze
produce to determine its quality," Foudy, "in uniform,
chooses to juggle a head of cabbage (actually cabbage leaves
wrapped around a ball)." Lefton notes that Bud Light is
"barely mentioned" in the spot. Foudy will also be the
"only soccer player" in AT&T's Olympic Ambassador Program
and will appear in a "cause-related soccer-themed program"
for Uniroyal Tires later this year. N.Y.-based Stars &
Strategies handles Foudy (BRANDWEEK, 3/27 issue).
WHALEN AROUND: U.S. women's soccer player Sara Whalen
has signed a multi-year endorsement deal with Morinda's
Tahitian Noni Juice brand. CA-based SportsNet Marketing &
Management represents Whalen (SportsNet Marketing).
