MEDIA NOTES

          TV MONITOR: Last night's 10:00pm ET edition of FSN's
     "Fox Sports News," and the 11:00pm ET editions of CNN/SI's
     "Sports Tonight" and ESPN's "SportsCenter" all led with the
     Univ. of NC-Univ. of Tulsa Men's NCAA Tournament Regional
     Final, followed by the Univ. of FL-OK St. Univ. Regional
     Final.  The 60-minute "Fox Sports News" reported on the TPC
     at 5:40 into the broadcast (7:04 of total coverage) and the
     LPGA's Nabisco Championship at 10:12 into the broadcast
     (1:11 of total coverage).  The 30-minute "Sports Tonight"
     reported on the TPC at 8:04 (2:13) and the Nabisco at 19:53
     (:55).  The 60-minute "SportsCenter" reported on the TPC at
     8:23 (2:31) and the Nabisco at 27:48 (1:21) (THE DAILY).    
          SWEET FANTASY: In Orlando, Dave Cunningham examined the
     popularity of fantasy sports leagues on the Web and cited a
     recent Harris Sports Poll that found 75% of those who play
     fantasy games are playing fantasy football games, while 43%
     play baseball and 25% play basketball.  The poll indicated
     that 75% of those who participate in fantasy leagues are
     male (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 3/26).  MLB Dir of New Media Alex
     Kam, on MLB deciding to offer a fantasy baseball league on
     its Web site this year for $19.95: "We've been thinking
     about it for a number of years.  The concerns of gambling
     aren't something we have now because it is so much a part of
     the game's fabric" (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 3/27).
          NOTES: In N.Y., Phil Mushnick reports that Jets' radio
     broadcasts, "now in the hands of MSG network, will this
     season move from WFAN to WABC" (N.Y. POST, 3/27)....In St.
     Louis, Bernie Miklasz reported that Dick Vermeil is "still
     trying to land a spot in a network TV booth as an analyst
     for NFL games.  He has no hot NFL leads but says ABC and
     ESPN want him to work college games.  Vermeil is open to the
     idea, but no deal is close" (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 3/25).
     ....NASCAR driver Darrell Waltrip "will join the Fox network
     next year as a NASCAR race commentator."  Waltrip: "I'm
     going to tell it like it is" (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 3/26).
